I heard this song on the way to work this morning. Michael Buble has become one of my favorite music artists. He really is a musical genius of my generation. Take a few minutes to check this out:

Here are the lyrics also:

I’m not surprised, not everything lasts I’ve broken my heart so many times, I stopped keeping track Talk myself in, I talk myself out I get all worked up, then I let myself down
I tried so very hard not to lose it I came up with a million excuses I thought, I thought of every possibility
And I know someday that it’ll all turn out You’ll make me work, so we can work to work it out And I promise you, kid, that I give so much more than I get I just haven’t met you yet
I might have to wait, I’ll never give up I guess it’s half timing, and the other half’s luck Wherever you are, whenever it’s right You’ll come out of nowhere and into my life
And I know that we can be so amazing And, baby, your love is gonna change me And now I can see every possibility
And somehow I know that it’ll all turn out You’ll make me work, so we can work to work it out  And I promise you, kid, I give so much more than I get I just haven’t met you yet
They say all’s fair In love and war But I won’t need to fight it We’ll get it right and we’ll be united
And I know that we can be so amazing And being in your life is gonna change me And now I can see every single possibility
And someday I know it’ll all turn out And I’ll work to work it out Promise you, kid, I’ll give more than I get Than I get, than I get, than I get
Oh, you know it’ll all turn out And you’ll make me work so we can work to work it out And I promise you kid to give so much more than I get Yeah, I just haven’t met you yet
I just haven’t met you yet Oh, promise you, kid To give so much more than I get
I said love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love (I just haven’t met you yet) Love, love, love, love Love, love I just haven’t met you yet

If you keep up with my blog when I write in it, then you know about my past somewhat. You know I struggle, some weeks, daily with being content in my singleness. I think the move to Kenya has kept my brain a little bit occupied but as I listened to this song I realize for once I’m content in my singleness. Actually, honestly, truthfully, ok to my core content. It has been a hard road to get here. The devil tells me lies. A LOT. I think about my past, thankfully not a lot. Do I wake up some morning and hate that I roll over to a dog and not a husband? Yes. I do. But it is Lord willing just a season, and not a forever constant in my life. I unfortunately live in a world, whether intentionally or not, where people put a good bit of value on your marriage status. People tend to view you as incomplete, or sidekicks almost if you are in your 20s and single. Some days I do feel like that, and I’ve tried a lot more to not be jaded on those days. To not judge my married friends posts on FB. I am genuinely happy for you all. But it is something I do think about. I’ve recently started reading my bible daily with my church. (I didn’t start until March but that’s ok, I will read January and February when it comes back around) and I’ve been convicted. I would be lying if I did not say that I have been convicted A LOT. About this much <———————————————————————————————————————————–> daily. I think God has been trying and I’ve been to stubborn and stupid until now to realize, He’s been molding me into a better person. So Lord willing one day when and if I get married I’m the kind of spouse that a Godly man can be proud to have. One who can be submissive and humble in His leadership. I know it is a journey that I still have a ways to go in, but maybe that is why I’m still single. God is still doing a mighty work to me.

Do I want to be married? Yes, it is one of my highest goals. Do I want to go on another successful date before the move? Yes, it would be a nice boost of confidence. But right now God has calmed my heart. I’m ok with being who I am.

Anyway, I listened to this song and while it is not full of theology I pray that will be me one day. I look to being married even though I have not met him yet. I might have to wait, I’ll never give up I guess it’s half timing, and the other half’s luck Wherever you are, whenever it’s right You’ll come out of nowhere and into my life  I love the line about waiting – so true. I will continue to wait daily, and it is hard to not give up. But I won’t because I know God is not keeping me single as a punishment. I know He is working something out on HIS time-table, not mine (which is a hard pill to swallow DAILY).

I have rambled a good bit but I was encouraged by this song. Buble is now happily married to the blonde lady he is dancing with in this video. You can read interviews where he struggled with the same thing (causing him to write this song). I just pray God is glorified in my walk in singleness and that one day if I’m married with children that people, and myself, can look back on this season and say “God really did a mighty thing in her during her single years. He really did a lot for His kingdom through her small obedience.”
