So for our halloween-nonhalloween-costume-party-in-september [please do not ask… it is kind of crazy] our SS class is doing a Trek Wars theme. Meaning it comes down to Star Wars VS. Star Trek. Now I was raised on the original Star Trek, as in Captain Kirk-tribbles-red shirts will always die first-Shatner talking in paused sentences-boldly go where no man has gone before-Spock original. Mainly because my dad seems to have an obsession for the show also. But I am not complaining. I loved watching those and was really upset when we had to get rid of the whole VHS set a couple of years ago. Sadly, there is where my Star Trek knowledge ended. So, to get ready for this party I started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation on Netflix. Oh.My.Gee. I am self-confessed Trekkie obsessed going on right now. I just started Season 2 and cannot seem to pull away from it!

But my all time favorite is of course:    DATA!

I may have a small, unrealistic crush on this character. I know, I know. It’s strange, and I should not be admitting this BUT as most of you know I have no shame. That is just who I am. Anyway, so like I said I have been brushing up on this show and LOVE it. I am hoping to be a super nerd and watch the other Star Trek movies that I did not know about. I saw the new one that just came out and was very happy with it. Especially with how well they kept to the original, right down to the very personalities of the main characters. AND LEONARD NEMOY MADE AN APPEARANCE. And my fate to see that movie was instantly set.

All this to say that I am beyond thrilled for this party and am enjoying the process of getting my costume ready. Mom and I are going to goodwill to get the parts to make the jumpsuit this weekend, I am excited to have a costume, and she is excited to get to use her new sewing machine we bought her for the first time! (Now that her finger is back to normal from the surgery she can enjoy sewing on the machine without lots of finger pain) A few other things were bought online in my nerd-fixed state and I should have them all by the first of next week at the latest. Communicator Pin? Check, that came in yesterday. Rank Pips? Check, should be here today. And the piece de la resistance, the phaser gun? Check, should be here next week. JOY! I cannot wait to see how everyone comes in costume and enjoys the night. There will for sure be PLENTY of pictures taken that night! :)
