of BABY LOVE! im officially done with my first week of watching grafton and im hooked already. why didnt i try to do something like this to pay my way through college?? dont get me wrong there are some GREAT moments and then there are some that makes me wonder WHY in the world would i have agreed to do this? (i know all you moms out there right now are like welcome to my life right?) so let me try to recap some things for you:
Good:
- grafton’s smile makes my heart absolutely melt
- and his laugh is precious, i cant help but laugh with him when he gets going
- he like to sleep a lot… like more than i thought babies were supposed to?
- he loves to go on walks (which is a bonus for me because im getting some kind of cardio in now a couple days a week) we walked thursday and friday this week, 45 minutes one day and 30 the other. he slept most of the time. but it was nice to get out of the house for a little bit and grafton really enjoyed watching the world around him [before he was out like a light]
- i can sit him in his exersaucer and then just make faces in front of him and he will laugh and watch me for hours… its a great way to amuse both of us
- he is a good eater and its a great time for the both of us to relax and calm down for about 10 minutes
- im able to nap for about 30 minutes during his 1 hour morning nap which helps me get through the day, i was real nervous at first about sleeping but i put the baby monitor by my head and the second he even sneezes im wide awake
- im not going to lie, i have to watch myself and make sure i dont spoil the child and cause him not to learn to crawl… i have to literally MAKE myself put the child down during the day or else i would just walk around holding that child ALL. DAY. LONG. brandon and i think grafton is getting ready to start crawling. hes been rolling over onto his belly alot and the other day he did a couple real short military skoots around the living room.
Not so good:
- he is a boogie baby (which kathy, his mom also calls him right now since hes sick) and sometimes i cant help but think with all that junk falling out of his face that he is NOT adorable in that moment
- his toots are insanely gross and i swear that much noise has got to be coming out of a 400 pound man, not a 6 month old baby
- the formula he is on for his stomach issues makes his spit up foul to no end. there were a couple moments this past week when i was cleaning him up that i had to pray Dear Lord please stop my gagging because i dont have it in me to clean up 2 peoples’ vomit
- getting up at 5a is getting better but its still hard for me
pretty much i LOVE my job and cant believe i get paid to love on this precious baby all day everyday. kathy and brandon are pretty awesome too if i can say so myself. ive enjoyed getting to talk to her in the morning before she leaves for school and i really like talking to brandon and getting to know more about them when he comes home for lunch. ive spent almost all week there playing with grafton and talking to brandon while he has his lunch.
im excited about going to their open house on sunday so mom can meet grafton and brandon. plus i will get to see brandon and kathy more in their normal life per say. they also have 2 funny dogs, bear and mollie and they are fun to play with as well. but i swear bear licks everything. no. joke. EVERYTHING. brandons arm. my leg. graftons boogies. graftons spit up. the floor. mollies ear. my face. you get the point right? it can get a little annoying.
ok im done now cause i think im rambling. but thats week one and as much as im excited about getting monday off from lifeway and grafton, i will kind of miss the little man some….. but not enough to make me keep my 5a alarm on. :)
