So, finally here is a post about my first week back into nannying the babies. I was super excited but aware that things were going to be different. I had changed over the summer. The kids had grown up and changed individually as well as together. I knew this year was going to be a test of my patience. So here is a taste as to what last week was like.
- Monday: apparently E did not remember me as much as G did. Since Kathy did not have to be at work this day I was able to spend the whole day with E at her house readjusting to each other. It was a good day for us I think. We never really got time to get to know each other last year and I enjoyed it. The only issue was that the week before E had pneumonia and she was still getting over the symptoms. She was super lethargic, clingy, snot running everywhere. It was a nice reintroducing.
- Tuesday: first day back with both kids! Crazy in and of itself. They are all of a sudden surrounded with another child all day. E is crawling now so she can follow G everywhere. And he is not happy about that. E is in a new house again. She is not happy about that. Like, screaming/crying/snot everywhere/make herself not be able to breathe attacks. I was hoping this was not going to become a habit. (Thankfully I can report that this was not a continuous issue, she is alright now when her parents drop her off.) G was also battling some serious constipation. He has found a new love for CHEEEEEEESE as he says it. Apparently his love was his downfall last week. Poor child was fighting to do his business. I won’t go into detail but Lawd help. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen something that big and compacted come out of an adult! At least it was finally out and I had my fun-loving G back.
- Wednesday: E’s medicine did not agree with her poor little stomach. During her noon/mid-afternoon bottle everything was on rebellion. We had a projectile vomit volcano. I never wrote a blog about it but this also happened in May on my last day with the babies, when E was getting over bronchitis. Her body just does not seem to take medicine right. Anyway, as she is laying in my arms eating up it comes. With forces. All over her. In her ears. And eyes. And nose. And her whole front. And her hair. Get the point? It is also all down my front. Like, soaked through my clothes down to my skin, all down me. The one day I did not bring a spare set of clothes. It also went all over the chair we were sitting in. Soaked all in the floor’s carpet. Luckily, G was far enough away that he did not get covered. BUT – the sight of that happening and her screams to follow sent him into a panic. He ran to the corner and screamed his head off. Ear piercing screams. So both E and I are gross so I scoop up a nearby towel and wrap it around me so I don’t drip everywhere and head to the bathroom. Thank goodness Brandon didn’t come home for an afternoon visit. Here it is 2p and E is naked in the tub and me down in my underoos washing her. Thankfully Kathy is about the same size as I am so I could borrow some clothes.
- Thursday: It seems like bodily fluids were our theme this week. Twice today the kids independently pooped through their clothes. E’s went everywhere. Had to bathe her again this week. I was so ready to be done with this antibiotic. G, I think, started drinking organic fruit juice and it has helped fight this constipation. I guess the first couple days worked like a body cleanse because man did it work. Thankfully it was not as bad as E’s and we did not have to bathe him.
- Friday: Pretty much the one normal day. The new thing we are working on with G is that he is hitting the terrible two’s early. Lots of bottom popping and time out going on. Pray. For. Me.
This week has settled down more, and I am so happy. We are getting back into a normal routine, they are getting used to them, E turned 1 this Wednesday (post after her birthday party this sunday) and overall it has been more enjoyable. Please pray for both the kids. Pray for patience and guidance for me as we are learning to share. We are learning to not hit. I am trying to be helpful and Godly as we work on discipline. Parents, I know you know of better ways to pray for me that I do not know even to ask for! Thank you.
